Rainy season is upon us here in Costa Rica, bringing out all the green and lushness this country has to offer.
Although many travelers from North America and Europe tend to head to Costa Rica during the winter months to escape the cold, those who have yet to visit during the rainy season are missing out. The rainy, or green, season of Costa Rica lasts from May to December, with the rainiest months being September to November.
Rainy season is particularly spectacular here in Guanacaste, home of the tropical dry forest. This province of Costa Rica, and especially its sunny coast, comes alive during the rainy season, giving you the picturesque views of lush rain forest meeting the shoreline. And the rain usually doesn’t last all day; typically it’s sunny all morning and it may rain or just be cloudy for a couple of hours in the afternoon or evening. It’s the perfect season for many outdoor activities, especially those that may be too uncomfortable during the hot and dry months.
Rainy season is THE time of year to try out one of Costa Rica’s many natural hot springs and mud baths. Go Fish offers the perfect spot for this authentic jungle experience just 1.5 hours drive from Tamarindo. Indulge in a natural thermal pool that emerges from a spring of the Rincon de la Vieja Volcano, complete with a mineral-rich mud bath. Don’t worry! The springs vary in temperature from warm to hot – perfect for a cloudy day.
If you like playing in the mud then you’ll definitely want to check out our ATV tours. Go Fish offers all-terrain vehicle tours of the back-country of Tamarindo. This two or four hour tour is a private tour with a guide so just you and your group can enjoy the sites together. During the lush green season you are sure to feel adventurous behind the wheel as you drive through shallow rivers, beaches, and trails.
The cooler weather of green season is a great time for a horseback riding tour as well. Bilingual guides show you the real Guanacaste – open ranges, beautiful beaches, and, of course, the illustrious tropical dry forest unique to this region of Costa Rica. This trip is perfect for all ages.
So what are you waiting for? Go Fish Costa Rica is back in business following a responsible lockdown period. Now is the perfect time to see everything this region has to offer!
